Adventurous. Observant. Grounded, yet experimental. Love a sense of home like old blankets, to-do lists, and photo albums. Chocolate milk can fix any bad mood. And grocery fresh daily muffins for that matter. I love to exercise, but not too much. Nothing beats the countryside in the summertime and sweet tea.
Once upon a time, I wanted to be a secret spy. I realized I’m a bit too clumsy, and I sleep too much. And I can’t run all that fast. That, and I don’t have the sexy hair for it. But I did think I could fit in with the mafia and obtain insider information…
I’ve changed from my secret spy days, and I’ve opted for the family instead. But family life doesn’t have to be any less adventurous. We’ve had fun in suburbia, scrambled around living abroad, and now touring the US via RV. Luckily, bad hair days are expected, and I’m given naps!
I originally used this space to document one aspect of my family life: Milligan. I posted images of what she was seeing as we lived abroad in Australia, New Zealand, and Thailand. She was a nomadic baby. But the truth is that I was also a nomadic baby.
In fact, being nomad isn’t just for travelers. We are all nomadic. We are always changing, trying to find our best composition. As soon as we find it, find “who we are”, we shift.
We are constantly moving. Switching hobbies, jobs, favorite restaurants, hairstyles, relationships.
Nomad Baby is now my space to share my journey in finding my best composition. And when it shifts, I hope you are there to laugh through it with me.

Thanks for compliments! It helps to have Milli on my arm
Most excellent! Nomadic living doesn’t have to be geographically bound, so TRUE! And your smiles will cover up any *bad* hair day! You girls are so CUTE!
Awesome! You guys look like you are having a blast!

I love this. I remember when your blog first launched, and I enjoyed it then, but I am so inspired by the new theme and content. It’s really fabulous and I can’t wait to see how it unfolds.
So glad you’ve been around from the beginning! I’m not completely running away from photography. Keep your eyes peeled for some new discoveries I’ve made….
Yep! Looks like you’re just expanding your horizons, which is always inspiring to watch.
Hi Courtney
My name is David and I just wanted to say that I thoroughly enjoy your website.
This was supposed to be the tenth email in a small personal project of mine but I couldn’t see an email address so hence the comment improv.
I actually emailed and featured Baker a few weeks ago on my project and have only recently discovered that you also have a blog. Needless to say that I’m now a subscriber and look forward to seeing your website develop and a different side to your adventure.
Thanks for your time,
David
Great to hear David! I’m not intentionally so secretive, I will try to plug in an email up top. Looks like you have a diverse group of people featured in your project, and I’m flattered that I’ve made the list! I’ll keep checking back to meet my other compadres. Until then, I’ll see you around NB.
You’re right it is quite an eclectic group and you’re inclusion in the project is fully deserved.
Have fun.
David
Hi there! I was just looking around on Families on the Road and saw your webpage. Love your adventurous spirit! We are getting ready to take off for a year in a few months. I’m super excited and super nervous. I also noticed you are from Indianapolis. I was born and raised in Greenfield (east of Indy). I moved to CA when I was 18 and have made it my home since but I Indy still has a place in my heart. It looks like you are in Southern CA. That’s where I live if you have any questions feel free to email me!
Call it a small world or not… But I was born at Hancock Memorial! I grew up in Shelbyville though. Thanks for stopping by and feel free to ask questions about life on the road anytime.
Great blog! Our number one question is “how much does a trip like that cost?”. People want to get out and travel but are so weighed down by debt. Great read! Keep it up!
